El Gran
Cañón del Colorado
está ubicado al noroeste del estado de Arizona, suroeste del estado de Utah y sureste del estado de Nevada. El parque nacional
del Gran Cañón, comprende 1,218,375 acres de la meseta del Colorado.
La tierra es semi-árida y consiste en mesetas elevadas y cuencas
estructurales. Los sistemas de drenaje cortaron profundamente a través de la roca, formando numerosos cañones con altos muros.
En la parte elevada se encuentran unos bosques mientras que la parte baja está formada por una serie de cuencas del desierto.
El cañon, cortado por el río Colorado, es inmenso y tiene un promedio de 4,000 pies de
profundidad. El punto más hondo tiene 6,000 pies de profundidad y el punto más ancho tiene 15 millas.

The Grand Canyon
is located in the northwest of Arizona, southwest of Utah, and southeast of Nevada. The Grand Canyon National Park, encompasses 1,218,375 acres and lies on the Colorado Plateau. The land is semi-arid and consists of raised plateaus and structural basins. Drainage systems have cut deeply through the rock, forming numerous steep-walled canyons. Forests are found at higher elevations while the lower elevations are comprised of a series of desert basins. The Canyon, incised by the Colorado River, is immense, averaging 4,000 feet deep for its entire 277 miles. It is 6,000 feet deep at its deepest point and 15 miles at its widest.
